TRANSITION TO EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
Transition to Employment

Who can apply: The program is open to unemployed and underemployed Albertans who can benefit from workplace and occupational skills development and who meet program criteria. Applicants will meet with a Service Coordinator to determine eligibility for the program.

 

Program Goal: We work with each individual and business to develop a plan for success, identify obstacles and find ways to overcome them. Individualized support will be provided through every phase of the program.

 

What we offer to job seekers: Individualized service, one to one support and mentorship, practical supports to overcome obstacles, career goal setting and supports to develop and follow the plan, occupational skill development, employability skill development, job opportunities and support.

 

What we offer to businesses : Our professional staff will meet with employers to determine your needs in order to find the most suitable candidate. Recruitment of motivated employees, screening and reference checking, matching suitable people to the job, after placement supports and follow up to ensure employee retention, and on-site coaching and follow up are provided.

 

What our services include: Interest assessments, career counselling, resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, personal presentation skills, certificate courses, essential employment skills, labour market knowledge, networking skills, job seeking techniques, job matching, opportunities to gain work experience, job placement, on-site job coaching and mentorship, workplace supports and successful outcomes.

 

Program Cost: There is no cost to participate and no placement fee to employers.

 

Program Length: We are able to provide training and support for up to 12 months. Our goal is to make a successful match between job seeker and employment opportunity and to provide the follow up support necessary to maintain the job.

SMART STEP SERVICES
Smart Step Services

Smart Step Services is designed to provide employment supports to Albertans who have a documented disability or chronic medical condition. Eligible clients include unemployed or underemployed Albertans over the age of 18 and are able to work a minumum of 15 hours per week.  Clients may be on EI, AISH or Income Support.

 

Once accepted into Smart Step Services clients will work with Being Human Services Staff to create a plan with the end goal of finding appropriate employment.  

    

Through a series of workshops and one-on-one meetings participants are assisted with:

  • development of job search skills

  • making connections with employers

  • gaining suitable employment

  • job maintenance support in order to maintain employment.

WORKPLACE TRAINING PROGRAM
Workplace Training

This program will assist employment-ready job seekers to update their workplace skills and experience to gain full-time employment. Through On-the-Job Training or Paid Work Experience, we will help to connect you with an employer and get you working again.

 

To qualify you must be an unemployed Alberta resident,  18 years of age or older, legally entitled to work or train in Canada and ready, willing and able to work full time (30+ hours/week). Preference will be give to EI Eligible or recent EI Benefit recipients.

Generation Y & Z
GENERATION Y & Z PROGRAM

This program is designed to assist youth to develop skills and knowledge to get a job. This opportunity to  “earn as you learn” includes classroom training and paid work experience. Participants must  “ready, willing, and able” to attend daily for 30 hours per week*.

To qualify you must be between 15 and 30 years of age (at intake) and a Canadian citizen, Canadian resident or with received refugee status. Those receiving EI benefits are not eligible.

FOR-FEE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
For-Fee Employment Services

We offer a variety of services for people who are looking for help preparing for work search or finding employment.

 

For Job Seekers: Our services include interest assessments, career counselling, resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, certificate courses, essential employment skills, labour market knowledge, networking skills, job seeking techniques, and successful outcomes. 

 

For Businesses: We offer referral of job seekers and other services to help you find the right candidate for the job.
