Diversity Program Coordinator

Full-time, Term Position (Completed March 15, 2022)

Monday – Friday   ~   40 hrs/week   ~   Wage:  $30/hr

 

Being Human Services is seeking a self-motivated Diversity Program Coordinator that will be responsible for the coordination and facilitation of services through the “Diversity:  An Employer Advantage” Program.  The program is designed to empower employers to hire, support, and retain Canadian newcomers to the Canadian market more effectively.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Marketing

  • Conduct an awareness campaign informing local employers how they can benefit from incorporating diversity into their organizations

  • Represent the company by acting as point of contact for public relations and media inquiries, as directed by the Program President

  • Using a variety of media, prepare and deliver advertising campaigns to promote the objectives of the program

  • Establish positive communications with clients, customers, and the community at large

 

Research and Development

  • Develop an understanding of the local labour market and be aware of opportunities for newcomer employees by researching, identifying, and soliciting commitments from prospective employers for informational interviews, work experiences, volunteer opportunities, and employment opportunities

  • Consult with community businesses and organizations to identify their needs regarding ways to better engage and retain newcomers to Canada as employees​

    • Design and deliver "Round Table" discussions and/or one-on-one employer consultation​ (in real or virtual formats) to determine needs to support, hire, and retain newcomers
    • Analyze information from surveys and final evaluation interviews to measure outcomes
  • Maintain communication with employers​

  • Actively assist employers with successfully hiring, supporting, and retaining newcomer employees
  • Develop resources in a variety of formats to provide solutions to employer needs

  • Engage community businesses and organizations in accessing these resources and provide follow-up support to enable optimum usage of these resources

  • Provide advocacy, support, and feedback to address employers’ concerns regarding hiring, orientation, and training clients

 

Administration and Accountability

  • Ensure adherence to tight timelines and work performance standards by monitoring workflow processes and service outcomes

  • Safeguard confidentiality of information by following all prescribes FOIP recommendations and organizational protocols

  • Complete all required documentation to ensure service accountability and effective team communication

  • Maintain employer database

  • Compile and update information for resources registry for website

  • Work within established budgets and follow procedures to ensure accountability

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Services, Marketing, Human Resources, Education, or related field.  A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, particularly Word and PowerPoint

  • Advanced skills in using social media and other virtual formats

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license (must provide a current driver’s abstract)

  • Access to a vehicle with minimum $2 million liability insurance coverage

  • Clean Criminal Record (must provide a current Police Information Check)

  • Client and customer service oriented

  • Strong understanding of cross-cultural issues

  • Exceptional verbal written communication skills including public speaking and cold calling

  • Ability to work independently to achieve results

  • Works well with other team members

  • Ability to use computer technologies in innovative ways to reach clients and customers through virtual communications
