Employment Programs and Services

GENERATION Y & Z PROGRAM

This program is designed to assist youth to develop skills and knowledge to get a job. This opportunity to  “earn as you learn” includes 8 weeks of classroom training and 16 weeks of paid work experience. Participants must  “ready, willing, and able” to attend daily for 30 hours per week*.

To qualify you must be between 15 and 30 years of age (at intake) and a Canadian citizen, Canadian resident or with received refugee status. Those receiving EI benefits are not eligible.

* Accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made based on individual circumstances.

TRANSITION TO EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

Who can apply: The program is open to unemployed and underemployed Albertans who can benefit from workplace and occupational skills development and who meet program criteria. Applicants will meet with a Service Coordinator to determine eligibility for the program.

 

Program Goal: We work with each individual and business to develop a plan for success, identify obstacles and find ways to overcome them. Individualized support will be provided through every phase of the program.

 

What we offer to job seekers: Individualized service, one to one support and mentorship, practical supports to overcome obstacles, career goal setting and supports to develop and follow the plan, occupational skill development, employability skill development, job opportunities and support.

 

What we offer to businesses : Our professional staff will meet with employers to determine your needs in order to find the most suitable candidate. Recruitment of motivated employees, screening and reference checking, matching suitable people to the job, after placement supports and follow up to ensure employee retention, and on-site coaching and follow up are provided.

 

What our services include: Interest assessments, career counselling, resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, personal presentation skills, certificate courses, essential employment skills, labour market knowledge, networking skills, job seeking techniques, job matching, opportunities to gain work experience, job placement, on-site job coaching and mentorship, workplace supports and successful outcomes.

 

Program Cost: There is no cost to participate and no placement fee to employers.

 

Program Length: We are able to provide training and support for up to 12 months. Our goal is to make a successful match between job seeker and employment opportunity and to provide the follow up support necessary to maintain the job.

"Untapped Potential"
(UP) PROGRAM

Our UP Program is designed to provide employment supports to people with a learning disability autism, developmental disability, autism, Asperger’s, or ADD/ADHD who are unemployed or unemployed.

 

Services include: 

  • Employability Assessment

  • Service Plan

  • Workshops or one-on-one: Employability Skills, Life Skills, Health and Wellness

  • Computer Support

  • Job Search Skills

  • Skills Assessment on the jobsite

  • Support to the employer

  • Multiple work experiences

  • Job customization

  • Job placement

 

To qualify you must be over the age of 18 and able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Those on AISH, EI or Income Support may apply. Otherwise, financial supports may be available.

 

"English Language to Support Employment" (ELSE Program)
 

Who can apply: In order to qualify for the program, you must be unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week, able to attend full-time training, you must be ready, willing and able to work full-time upon completion of the training and have childcare in place.

 

What our services include: 

  • 14 weeks of English Language Training (Classroom instruction, Rosetta Stone, IXL Math, Computer Basics and Keyboarding)

  • 4 weeks of Employment Preparation, Work Experience and Job Search (Resume Development, Cover Letters, Interview Practice, Labour Market Information, Employment Maintanence, Job Search Assistance)

  • 1 week Wondertech Employment Simulation

  • Full-time Employment

  • 6 months continued support in employment

 

 

 

"Goals and Plans for Success"
(GPS) PROGRAM

Employment Supports for Persons with Physical Disabilities Program (GPS Program - "Goals and Plans for Success") is designed to provide employment supports for Persons with Physical Disabilities (must be documented by a physician and may include mental conditions). Eligible clients include unemployed or underemployed Albertans who are over the age of 18 and are able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week (may be on AISH, EI or Income Support). Financial supports may be available.

 

Program Services Include: Employability Assessment, Service Plan, Employability Skills and Life Skills workshops or one on one, health and wellness workshops, Job Search Skills, Skills Assessment on the jobsite, support to the employer, multiple work experiences, job customization, job placements, and 3 and 6 month follow up.

We offer a variety of services for people who are looking for help preparing for work search or finding employment.

 

For Job Seekers: Our services include interest assessments, career counselling, resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, certificate courses, essential employment skills, labour market knowledge, networking skills, job seeking techniques, and successful outcomes. 

 

For Businesses: We offer referral of job seekers and other services to help you find the right candidate for the job.
